What Apple credit actually buys
An iTunes or App Store gift card loads balance onto your Apple ID, and Apple spends that balance before it ever touches a card on file. It covers paid apps, in-app purchases, game currency, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ storage upgrades.
That last one is why a lot of Algerian buyers land here: iCloud storage and app subscriptions renew automatically, and a renewal that fails for lack of a valid payment method is a fast way to lose a backup. Keeping a small standing balance on the Apple ID solves it permanently.
- Paid apps and in-app purchases across iPhone, iPad and Mac
- Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ subscriptions
- Game top-ups billed through the App Store, including most mobile titles
Match the card region to your Apple ID
Apple gift cards are strictly regional. A US card only redeems on an Apple ID whose country is set to the United States; a UAE card needs a UAE account. Apple will reject the code outright rather than convert it.
Check your account country in Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Media & Purchases ▸ View Account, or on the web at appleid.apple.com. Apple does allow you to change the country of an Apple ID, but you must spend your existing balance down to zero first and cancel active subscriptions — so it is far simpler to buy the card that matches the account you already have.
Redeeming, and where the balance shows up
The fastest route is the App Store: tap your profile picture, choose Redeem Gift Card or Code, and either type the code or use the camera. On a Mac, the same option sits in the App Store sidebar. On the web, redeem.apple.com does the job from any browser.
Once redeemed, the balance appears under your account and is spent automatically on your next purchase or subscription renewal, before any card. There is no expiry on the balance.
Why buy the code locally
Apple bills in foreign currency and expects a card that supports international transactions. Most Algerian debit cards do not, and attaching a card belonging to someone abroad is a reliable way to trip Apple's payment checks.
Buying the code here in dinars removes the card from the equation entirely. Payment goes through the national gateway with CIB or Edahabia, and the delivery is automated, so a purchase at midnight is redeemable at midnight.
